Football fans hoping for that epic Phil Simms vs. Desmond Howard Wrestlemania 27 match are going to be disappointed.

Former New York Giants quarterback and Super Bowl XXI MVP Phil Simms apologized on Monday for the much-publicized incident that occurred involving him and college football analyst Desmond Howard during Super Bowl week. In an interview with Chris "Mad Dog" Russo, Simms stated "It's over, And, you know, and I'm sorry. I really, I mean this, I'm sorry it happened. I really am because even if it remained private, there's still nothing gained. So I've learned another lesson."

The feud between the two Super Bowl MVPs turned analysts was triggered by Howard criticizing Tennessee quarterback Matt Simms, Phil's son, during an ESPN broadcast. After the two almost "came to blows," Howard wrote about the incident on his Twitter page, saying "At NFL-Xperience and Phil Simms just threatened 2 hit me b/c I said his son was 1 of the worse QBs in the SEC. I told him 'LET'S GO'."

Conflicting reports make it difficult to know if it was Simms or Howard who provoked what was almost a free preview for the UFC 126 event that took place on Saturday night. Regardless, the entire incident made both Simms and Howard look rather silly, especially if Simms attacked Howard simply because the college football analyst was doing his job. The real question regarding the issue is

Simms vs. Howard. Who ya got? I say Simms, first round stoppage.
