Philadelphia Anchor Vince DeMentri Suspected of Vandalizing Fellow Anchor Lori Delgado's Car

News anchors aren't usually supposed to make news themselves, but it's been a little different in Philadelphia. In Philadelphia, the recent incident involving NBC10 anchors Vince DeMentri and Lori Delgado is almost par for the course. Vince DeMentri's suspected vandalism against Lori Delgado's car comes on the heels of Philadelphia CBS-3 anchor Larry Mendte being investigated for reading fellow anchor Alycia Lane's e-mail. Vince DeMentri himself has also faced disciplinary charges at least twice for past actions. But Vince DeMentri's latest alleged incident involving Lori Delgado is out there even for him and Philadelphia news anchors as a whole.

Vince DeMentri was questioned on July 3, according to Philly.com, for the suspected vandalism of Lori Delgado's vehicle. An anonymous source identified the car as belonging to Delgado, as the car was scratched with a key.

There is also speculation that a handbag and blow dryer was taken from the news room, an incident also looked into along with the vandalism. The property was found, but there is no word on how it relates to DeMentri or Delgado.

DeMentri has not been charged with a crime as of yet, as he is currently on vacation from work. But no comments have been made yet about whether DeMentri will return to work next week as scheduled.

However, the Lower Marion police have ended their investigation into the alleged incident. There was a rumor yesterday that DeMentri was going to turn himself in, but Lower Merion police spokeswoman Brenda Viola now says that the matter is a "nonissue," according to Philly.com.

The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists union is getting involved itself, asking NBC to release a statement that would explain the allegations. The union called on NBC to reveal what evidence they may or may not have against DeMentri.

DeMentri and Delgado had previously worked together for almost a year on Philadelphia's MYPHL-17 station, before splitting in September 2006. DeMentri now works the afternoon news for NBC10 while Delgado works in the mornings.

Off-air trouble is nothing new for DeMentri, as he was suspended in 2006 over a confrontation with NBC 10 weatherman Glen "Hurricane" Schwartz. While working in New York after the 9/11 attacks, DeMentri was detained by police for gaining access to prohibited sites by wearing a hat issued by the ATF.

I can't wait to read updates about this very strange incident. I'm assuming jealousy was a motivation.
