Philadelphia Eagles 2010 Schedule

New-look Eagles Face Tough Stretch to End Season

Adam Sparks
For the first time since 1999, Philadelphia heads into a season without Donovan McNabb at quarterback. Kevin Kolb takes over the offense, and a brutal schedule awaits the youngster in 2010. The Eagles, who went 9-6-1 in 2009, face five divisional foes in the last eight weeks of the season, including a finale against rival Dallas, the team that knocked Philly out of the playoffs with a 34-14 wild-card victory.

Philadelphia Eagles 2010 Schedule
(All times Eastern)

Sept. 12 vs. Green Bay, 4:15 p.m. - The season starts off with a bang as Aaron Rogers and the Packers visit Lincoln Financial Field for the 50th meeting between the two teams. Andy Reid is 4-0 against his former team in games played in Philly.

Sept. 19 at Detroit, 1 p.m. - The Lions should be much improved in 2010, but on paper, this still appears to be an easy win for the Eagles. Detroit won two games in 2009, giving the team a two-year win total of ... two.

Sept. 26 at Jacksonville, 4:05 p.m. - The Jags had a rough finish to the 2009 campaign, losing their final four games and five of their last six. David Garrard and Maurice Jones-Drew have the home-field advantage, but unless Jacksonville is much-improved, the Eagles should have the edge.

Oct. 3 vs. Washington, 4:15 p.m. - Barring one with playoff implications later in the season, this is the biggest, most intriguing game on the Eagles' schedule; the team's first divisional contest of the season sees former quarterback Donovan McNabb playing in Philadelphia for the first time since being traded in the offseason. How will the boo-happy Philly fans treat the QB who guided the team to five NFC title games in 11 seasons?

Oct. 10 at San Francisco, 8:20 p.m. - The NBC Sunday Night Football match up pits the Eagles against the 49ers and Frank Gore, a rumbling running back who's tough to stop when he gets going downhill. San Francisco just missed the playoffs in 2009, Mike Singletary's first full season as head coach.

Oct. 17 vs. Atlanta, 1 p.m. - A pair of young quarterbacks face off in Philly. The Eagles' Kevin Kolb was selected in the second round of the 2007 draft, and the Falcons' Matt Ryan went third overall in 2008.

Oct. 24 at Tennessee, 1 p.m. - The Titans ended the 2009 season on a tear, winning seven of their last eight games, but a six-game losing streak to start the season meant the late surge wasn't enough to reach the playoffs. This could be a pivotal game in both teams' efforts to make the postseason.

Nov. 7 vs. Indianapolis, 4:15 p.m. - Peyton Manning and the Super Bowl XLIV runner-up Colts come to town for a game that could be key for any playoff hopes the Eagles might have. A loss to one of the NFL's perennial powers doesn't mean the end of Philadelphia's playoff homes, but a win goes a long way toward extending the season.

Nov. 15 at Washington, 8:30 p.m. - An ESPN Monday Night Football audience will watch McNabb vs. Philly part two, as the Eagles kick off a stretch of five NFC East matchups over the final eight games of the season.

Nov. 21 vs. N.Y. Giants, 8:20 p.m. - Philadelphia takes on another tough divisional foe, as Eli Manning and the Giants visit Lincoln Financial Field for an NBC Sunday Night Football game.

Nov. 28 at Chicago, 1 p.m. - Philadelphia plays at Soldier Field for the third consecutive season. These teams have played close games each of the past three years - the Eagles won 24-20 in 2009; the Bears won 24-20 in '08; and the Bears won 19-16 in '07.

Dec. 2 vs. Houston, 8:20 p.m. - The Eagles return home after a short week of practice to take on the Texans in a Thursday night, NFL Network game. The two teams are squaring off for the first time since Sept. 10, 2006, a game the Eagles won 24-10.

Dec. 12 at Dallas, 8:20 p.m. - Philadelphia faces the Cowboys twice in the last four weeks of the season, the first time at Cowboys Stadium on NBC's Sunday Night Football in the first match up between the teams since Dallas' 34-14 victory in the wildcard round of the 2009-10 playoffs.

Dec. 19 at N.Y. Giants, 1 p.m. - It doesn't get much tougher than this: Philly plays at the new Meadowlands Stadium, the second of back-to-back road games against tough divisional rivals.

Dec. 26 vs. Minnesota, 1 p.m. - The Eagles take a break from NFC East foes, but it's hardly a break, as the Vikings are coming off a season in which they nearly made the Super Bowl, losing in the NFC Championship game in overtime to the eventual champion New Orleans Saints. The question is: Will Brett Favre be a member of this Vikings team?

Jan. 2 vs. Dallas, 1 p.m. - The Eagles and Cowboys have ended the regular season against each other each of the past two years, and both of those games had playoff implications. Could it be three in a row?
