Philadelphia Eagles 2011 Schedule: Playoffs or Disappointment?

Gary Davis
The Philadelphia Eagles entered the 2010 season without their signature signal caller for the first time in a decade. What was expected was a breakout year for Kevin Kolb, McNabb's backup for the 2009 season. What was expected didn't happen.

In Philadelphia's opener against eventual champion Green Bay, Kolb suffered a concussion and opened the door for Michael Vick, who, over the 2010 season, became the signature resurgent star of the NFL. Vick became the league's scariest weapon and ersatz hero. Philadelphia ended up with a 10-6 record in 2010. However, they suffered a heartbreaking defeat to the Packers in the wildcard round and were eliminated from the postseason run. How will the Eagles do in 2011?

I am using FB Schedules Website and the "2011 Philadelphia Eagles Football Schedule" as a reference.

The Philadelphia Eagles against the NFC East:

The Eagles play in the NFL's notorious NFC East, which is never dull. The teams of this division tend to go blow for blow with each other every season, and there's plenty of bad blood to go around. Because of the back and forth history of the division, I'm predicting a 3-3 record for the Eagles against the NFC East, with series against the Redskins, Giants, and Cowboys being split evenly down the middle.

The Philadelphia Eagles against non-divisional opponents on the road:

The Eagles visit Miami, Buffalo, Atlanta, St. Louis, and Seattle during the 2011 season. I believe Philadelphia will do well in these games, with victories over the Bills, Falcons, Rams, and Seahawks, but a surprise upset at the hands of Miami. All in all, Philadelphia will have a surprising road record of 4-1 against non-divisional opponents.

The Philadelphia Eagles against non-divisional opponents at home:

Three playoff teams visit Philadelphia this season: the Bears, Jets, and Patriots, all games I believe the Eagles will lose. They should make up some ground with victories over the Cardinals and 49ers, but I believe the damage will be done, and Philadelphia will have a tough time getting into the playoffs.

While they will have a winning 9-7 record, we will have to see how things will go in the NFC East with the other teams, not to mention the NFC North still coming into the picture.
