Philadelphia Flyer's Joffrey Lupul and His Hockey Career

BS
Joffrey Lupul may be young, but he has a lot to show for himself. Joffrey Lupul was born in Edmonton, Alberta in Canada on September 23, 1983, making him twenty-five years old. Lupul is 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 205 pounds. Joffrey Lupul plays right wing, and like most professional hockey players, has been playing hockey for years and years. Joffrey Lupul played youth hockey, just as every hockey player does, and his hockey career starts with the Fort Saskatchewan team in the AMHL (Alberta Midget Hockey League). The midget level is the one right before junior, and it is at this point that most hockey players choose to go on or call it quits.

In the 2000-2001 hockey season, Joffrey Lupul moved on to the Medicine Hat Tigers, in the WHL (Western Hockey League). The WHL is one of the three leagues that makes up the CHL (Canadian Hockey League) and the CHL is the most competitive level of junior hockey in all of Canada. The Medicine Hat Tigers remained Joffrey Lupul's team for three seasons, until 2003. During Joffrey Lupul's time in the WHL, he was chosen to play on the CHL First All-Star team and the WHL East First All-Star team in the 2001-2002 season.

In 2002, Joffrey Lupul entered the NHL Draft. Lupul was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks, 7th overall. Joffrey Lupul was the Anaheim Duck's first round pick. Being drafted in the first place is a big accomplishment, but being chosen in the top ten is amazing achievement. Although he was drafted in 2002, he spent one last season with the Medicine Hat Tigers in the WHL, before being moved to the AHL (American Hockey League) for the 2003-2004 season. At the beginning of the 2003-2004 season, Joffrey Lupul was playing with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, which is the Anaheim Duck's affiliate AHL team. Lupul only played three games in the AHL before being called up to play in the NHL with the Anaheim Ducks.

Joffrey Lupul finished out the rest of the 2003-2004 season with the Anaheim Ducks playing in almost every single game with them and ending the season with thirty-eight points. During this season, Joffrey Lupul was selected to play in the NHL YoungStars game. The NHL lockout of 2004-2005 sent Joffrey Lupul back to the AHL to play with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. As soon as the NHL lockout was over, Joffrey Lupul went back to the NHL with the Anaheim Ducks. Lupul spent the 2005-2006 season with the Ducks before being traded to the Edmonton Oilers. Joffrey Lupul spent the 2006-2007 season the Edmonton Oilers, but was traded the next season. Joffrey Lupul played with 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers and signed a four year contract with them last year.

Even though I'm in Pittsburgh & a Pens fan I still cheer for Phili. Another great hockey themed article.
