Philadelphia Flyers:Back With a Vengeance

Dom O'Rourke
"Back With A Vengance" is a term used often when describing the Philadelphia Flyers. This team has been through thick and thin. To start off, in the 05-06 season the flyers finished 28th overall in the league of only 32 teams. During that horrible painful season, the flyers lost a key player due to an injury. Peter Foresberg. Foresberg, being a 4 time all-star player was the flyers key to their few wins. He was a great offensive and defensive player. He was the leader in points that year and assists. He was also a great leader. To make it even worse, the team captain, Kieth Primeau retired. That set them back to.Things were not looking good for the road ahead. However there is a small light at the end of the long tunnel.

However, in the off season the flyers really showed what their staff could do. They acquired Danny Brierre from Buffalo. Brierre, an all-star himself was the founder of 2 charities such as the "Flyers Blood Drive" and "The Brierre Bunch". He stepped right up to the job and faced his fears. May I remind you that he is only 5'11 and 186 pounds. Brierre is a natural born leader. Right now the flyers have a killer first line consisting of: Danny Brierre-C, Simon Gagne-LW, Mike Knuble-RW, and a killer defense and goalie: Kimmo Timonen-D, Jason Smith-D, Derian Hatcher-D, and last but certainly not least Martin Biron-G.

At this point in the season, the flyers are number 1 in the Atlantic Division and are making a long, tough play-off run. They are dominating the Atlantic Division and are one of the top point leaders in the NHL. Also they have a great player at each position:
Hey flyers fans stay hopeful, reach for the stars, and above all ... THINK STANLEY CUP!

A short acrostic poem..."Vengance".

V- Victory on mind at all times.
E- Everlasting, relentless attacks.
N- Never ending win streak.
G- Goalie as strong as ever.
A- All out.
N- No mercy.
C- Cup is ours.
E- Everlasting brotherhood.
