1915. The Philadelphia Phillies win their first National League Pennant and advance to their first World Series. The Phillies play the Boston Red Sox in the World Series and win the first game of the series. But the Red Sox would win the next four games to win the series four games to one.
1950. The Phillies win their second National League Pennant in franchise history and advance to the World Series to play the New York Yankees. The Yankees would sweep the Phillies in four games to win the series.
1976. The Philadelphia Phillies advance to the postseason for the first time since 1950 when they win the National League Eastern Division Title. The Phillies play the Cincinnati Reds in the National League Division Series. The Reds would sweep the Phillies in three games to capture the National League Pennant.
1977. The Phillies return to the postseason in 1977 when they once again win the Eastern Division Title. This time the Phillies play the Los Angeles Dodgers in the playoffs. The Phillies would win game one, but the Dodgers would win the next three games to take the series in four games.
1978. The Phillies win their third consecutive division title and once again face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the playoffs. The Dodgers once again win the series in four games to capture the National League Pennant.
1980. The Phillies win their fourth division title in five seasons to advance to the postseason. This time the Phillies face the Houston Astros in the National League Championship Series. The two teams split the first four games to force a 5th and deciding game. The Astros take a two run lead into the seventh inning but the Phillies rally to score five runs and take the lead. The Phillies would eventually win the game in 10 innings to capture their third National League Pennant in team history.
The Phillies advance to the World Series against the Kansas City Royals. The Phillies win the first two games at home. The Royals would win the next two to tie the series. The Phillies would than win games five and six to win the series and capture their first World Championship in franchise history. They win the decisive game six by a score of 4 to 1.
1981. The 1981 players strike caused the baseball season to be divided into two separate seasons, the Phillies would win the first half Eastern Division title. The Phillies go on to play the Montreal Expos in a divisional playoff. The Expos win the first two games of the series. The Phillies fight back to win the next two games to force a 5th and deciding game. The Expos would win the 5th game by a score of 3 to 0 to win the series.
1983. The Phillies return to the postseason in 1983 when they once again win the National League Eastern Division Title. They would play the Los Angeles Dodgers in the League Championship Series. The Phillies would win the series in four games to capture their fourth National League Pennant. They advance to the World Series to play the Baltimore Orioles. After winning the first game of the World Series, the Phillies drop the next four to lose the series in five games.
1993. The Phillies return to the postseason for the first time in ten years. They face the Atlanta Braves in the National League Championship Series. After trailing the series two games to one, the Phillies win the next three games to win the series and the National League Pennant.
The Phillies advance to the World Series to face the Toronto Blue Jays. Trailing three games to two in the series the Phillies are three outs away from sending the series to a seventh game. But Joe Carter of the Blue Jays hit a game winning home run in the 9th inning to give the Blue Jays the title in six games.
2007. The Phillies win their first division title since 1993 and advance to the postseason. They face the Colorado Rockies in the Division round of the playoffs. The Rockies sweep the series in three games to send the Phillies home.
2008. The Phillies win their second consecutive division title and advance to the postseason for the second straight season. The Phillies face the Milwaukee Brewers in the first round of the playoffs. The Phillies win the series in four games to advance to the National League Championship Series. The Phillies face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS. The Phillies win the series in five games and advance to the World Series for the sixth time in franchise history.
In the 2008 World Series the Phillies face the Tampa Bay Rays. The two teams split the first two games in Tampa Bay. The Phillies return to Philadelphia and win the next three games to capture their second World Series Championship in franchise history.
