Like the Toyota, Karaoke is a Japanese import that is here to stay. We'll never get rid of it....Some of us are born with the ability to sing, and others (sadly) are not - but karaoke is an experience that can be enjoyable no matter how tone-deaf the participants. Good singers are as beloved as bad ones, and everyone gets a round of applause at the end of a set! We've spent several grueling weeks criss-crossing Philadelphia testing, singing, listening, and drinking. We've sang country with hipsters, and hip-hop with seniors. So here dear readers, are the BESTEST karaoke nights in Philly!

Locust Bar

235 S. 10th St., 215.925.2191.

This cheap'n friendly pub near Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is a haven for those who love to sing! Every Sunday, the small room is always filled with some serious talents, cause if you aren't a crooner you are going to get heckled! Heckled not only by the crowd, but by the unmerciless DJ Joe H. He's like the Simon Cowell of low-budget anthems!

Vincenzo's

1626 S. 9th St, , 215.463.6811

You'd expect to hipsters and homosexuals to be unwelcome at this classic South Philly dive bar. But the joint is totally friendly and totally unpredictable, especially when the barstaff all can do some amazing Morrissey covers. This is the Thursday spot that feels like a Friday night! So don't be scared of the ambience, just hunker up to the bar and order a PBR.

McGillin's Old Ale House

Old Ale House, 1310 Drury St., 215.735.5562;

http://www.mcgillins.com/

One of the premier spots for songbirds, this historic haunt bring out some of the strangest and most compelling acts. But be wary, the witty bars of DJ Joe H have lead to many a soritory girl crying after a not-so-special performance of "Single Ladies." But please, bring some original choeragraphy....

Millcreek Tavern

4200 Chester Ave., 215.222.9194

www.millcreektavernphilly.com

Silly and sassy Sara Sherr hosts Millcreek's Monday karaoke night with style and sweetness. If your scared and shy, Sara's the perfect mother-goddess of the microphone. And if you are scared and shy, the incredibly super-cheap booze at Millcreek will also help you drop your inhibitions!

WOODY's

www.woodysbar.com

Philadelphia's hub of gay-gay-gay going's on blossoms into Motown every Monday night. America's wackiest drag queen, Salotta Tea hosts a karaoke night that you have to see, hear and sometimes smell to believe.

TRITONE

1508 South Street, 215.545.0475

www.tritonebar.com

If you feel like warbling away in West Philly, jam at TRITONE's super funky, super-fresh karaoke. Hosted by the hilarious and cute-as-a-button Sara Sherr, this is a fun fun time.

TAVERN ON CAMAC

www.tavernoncamac.com

Infamous Penny Productions has the hottest selection of fresh licks and old classics. Every Tuesdays you can pick from classics from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s. Or simply do something by Brittney. Like everyone else....

12th Air Command

254 S 12th Street, 215.545.8088

www.12thair.com

The working man's karaoke is every Tuesday night. Singers and songbirds also get to enjoy some of the best bar specials in town. Even if your not singing, this is always an easy way to get schnookered.

KNOCK

225 S 12th Street, 215.925.1166

Last but never, ever, ever least - is Knock's Kicking Thursday Karaoke. This is THE personal fav of mine. The host, Ben, is a belter; he can sing and the crowd is always plenty of fun.

DJ Joe H hasn't run the karaoke at Locust Bar in over a year and a half. Doesn't anyone check these things? Seems just repeating word for word what someone else wrote somewhere else on the internet makes writing your article easier.
