If you want to talk about an amazing gadget that can literally save your life then we are talking about the Philips HeartStart. The use of CPR on a person whose heart as stopped is better than doing nothing at all. Fortunately, we have the power to save a life put in anyone's hand with the Philips HeartStart AED The American Heart Association 2005 CPR &ECC announce that Philis HeartStart AED meet the stated guidelines. Sudden Cardiac Arrest is leading cause of death causing 340, 000 people each year. Which is about 1,000 deaths per day by this disease. More than 95% die before reaching a hospital. So what has the Philips HeartStart to do with this figure? The Automated External Defibrillators (AED) made by Philips and available to the public with out a prescription. It's quick shock technology is three times faster than the norm. It sells for $1148.00 or they will finance it. It's been advertised on television, and it's available on-line as well. It has a five year warrenty and a lithium battery. It also comes with attachments for adults and infants and children. These pads are sold on-line.

A true life and death story about this product was a 68 year old Don McQuinn who was in excellent health and no heart attack symptoms. He lifted weights and got regular check ups. They were playing water volleyball in the pool when he went face down and into cardiac arrest. They administered CPR for 15 minutes and then the policeman arrived with the Automated External Defibrillator. He checked the heart rhythm, and gave it one shock that brought him back to life. He had used this machine for the very first time. He had a brief recovery time and he is now back to his life again. More grateful than ever for the life giving force of this machine.

On January 1, 2004 Medicare covered this AED product. This is the greatest advance of citizen lifesaving, and the lastest tool for the well prepared home. For people who have a history of heart disease to people who may end up with it and the good news is that prices are coming down for these essential items. It's reliable and easy to use. AEDs detect the ineffective cardiac rhythm and automatically deliver one or more shocks in an attempt to convert the rhythm to one that will pump blood. They estimate that if AEDs were widely available as many as 40,000 lives might be saved each year. Is this just a wishful thinking? These trends are growing. The more knowledge and availability to these AED's the more effective we will be against Sudden Cardiac Arrest. We need to keep these in these in everyone's hands!
