Philosophy Acne Kit Review

How Philosophy's Acne Kit Worked for Me

J. Knudson
Our skin changes as we age and mine is certainly no exception. For those of us with combination skin or skin that changes drastically from season to season it can be a chore to find something that works. I've researched and tried various products over the years and Philosophy is my newest acquisition.

It started with the makeup optional skincare kit about which I'd heard great things. I tried it for approximately a month. The purity made simple cleanser I really like. It makes my skin feel clean and soft. The serum, when hope is not enough I also loved. My face felt immediately firmer after using this product. It was when I used the moisturizer, hope in a jar, that I realized this product wasn't for me. I started this regime when the weather started to warm up, so this may have been the problem. I know it works great for some people, but my skin was far too oily for it. I gave the moisturizer to my sister whose skin is drier than mine.

This left me without a moisturizer. Since I liked most of the Philosophy products from the kit, I decided to see what else the company had to offer for my warm weather oily skin problems. I don't have an acne problem usually, but I do get a monthly breakout and occasional blemishes. So with further investigation I discovered Philosophy's acne kit. The kit contains no benzoyl peroxide so I figured it had to be gentle.

The on a clear day wash made my skin squeaky clean without drying it out. The only thing bad I can say about the cleanser is the smell. It has a distinct sulfur smell. This makes sense as it's one of the ingredients. Next is the blemish serum. I love this stuff. My skin felt exfoliated without the harsh grainy substances of other products I've tried. At night I use the clear day H2o2 cream and I like it so far. In the mornings I use the clear day protection cream. It was created to keep the bad stuff out. It does that for me while keeping moisture in. I rarely get a blemish since starting the routine.

Through trial and error, it looks like I've found my summer skin care regime, but what am I going to do when the weather turns colder and my skin changes again? And what about these dark circles that just popped up lately? I better start the hunt now!
