Phoenix Rising

Gloria Dannunzio
Phoenix rising
far above the ashes
it's body, singed
it's feathers, like coal
From the cinders
arises a saviour
a pure warrior, strong
with tears, he soothes
with words, he heals
with love, he protects
So wounded, her flight
once hopeful and grand
by a hunter, cruel
masked as a lover
By deceit, fooled blindly
her wings had broken
her heart, set ablaze
Sent down, spiraling
But from the ashes
she rises above
healed, set to soar
by the love
of a new warrior
The phoenix
lives again...
