Photo of My Hometown Summer

Sue G.
enter a longing green summer cracked by sudden traveling
thunderstorms that clatter soaking through
the bright earth

walk to the library every day

the church white wood painted building black roof still weathervane next to
Esso gas station with swinging oval sign
borders the black iron fence door
enter the ancestors
graveyard pregnant mounds baby winged skull headstones

walk the creaking steps
haunt the varnished brown smell
odor of glue ancient find
poetry walk across the street read
among pine trees
already gone
