On a friend's recommendation I decided to try Memories by Melissa based in Ringold, VA for my engagement pictures and use it as a trial run. We met Melissa Ferguson at the Crossing at the Dan in Danville, VA. It was important to us that we catch the fall setting there and Melissa was more than accommodating. She set our appointment for a time when she thought the leaves would be changing and was open to changing the appointment if the leaves didn't want to cooperate with our schedule. Neither of us had done pictures like this before and we were a little nervous, but Melissa's easy and comfortable attitude relaxed us right away. We spent the afternoon strolling by the river and playfully enjoying each other's company while Melissa snapped away in the background. When we seemed a bit lost she offered direction, and was even willing to accept our suggestions as well. At one point the three of us trekked off the path to climb on a log down by the river in what ended up being the picture we chose as our large portrait. At the end of the afternoon I felt so comfortable with Melissa that she felt more like a new friend than someone we hired to take our pictures.
Less than a week later our pictures were posted on the internet for us to view at www.memoriesbymelissava.com. We were able to order directly from the website and our families were able to order from there as well. The hardest part was choosing what to order. They were all beautiful! I finally ended up calling Melissa to make the order and she was more than happy to rearrange a package to suit my exact needs at no extra cost. Even more amazing, the order was ready for pick up in just a few days.
When I went to pick up the pictures I couldn't believe how fantastic they looked. We had decided after meeting Melissa that she would be the perfect photographer for our wedding. We sat down and discussed packages and options. What I found was not some snooty photographer that was willing to say whatever I wanted to hear all the while adding up numbers in her head (which had been my previous experiences), but someone who understood the importance of these pictures and this day and knew that you shouldn't have to sacrifice quality to stay within your budget. After reviewing all the package options it was clear to me that I could have everything I wanted (even some things I thought I would never be able to afford- like videography) without coming close to breaking my budget.
After the cake is eaten and the music fades away the only thing left of the wedding day is pictures. That's why choosing the person that suits your style is so important. If your wedding is in Danville, VA or any of the surrounding areas I highly recommend calling Memories by Melissa to set up a meeting right away.
