The Christmas Season is here in full swing. Most of the local towns have had their annual Christmas parades and tree lighting ceremonies. Decorations are hung, the sales are in effect and the children are excited. Christmas wouldn't be the same without the traditional trip to see Santa. Getting dressed up and finishing up the wish list, then waiting and waiting in line to see Santa. As parents we always hope for that perfect picture to mail out to our friends and relatives, but we know that it's seldom perfect. How many of us just wish our child wasn't crying or at least not look like they're being tortured.

One year we dressed our kids in festive turtlenecks and waited and waited to see Santa. It was very crowded and warm inside and the kids faces were slightly red. We didn't think much of it until my daughter said she was hot and itchy. I looked at her back and she was covered with chicken pox. She had broken out in the time we had waited to see Santa. All I could think of is all the other children waiting in line. I hope they weren't close enough to catch it. Never mind poor Santa, I hope he had chicken pox as a kid! By that night all the kids had full blown chicken pox and they lasted right through Christmas and New Years. Now when we look at the old Santa photos everyone laughs at the turtleneck one and says " That was the chicken pox one!".
