A Tour Of Old Southampton

Join Us On A Walk Around The Old City Walls Of Southampton

Tony Payne

The port city of Southampton is in Hampshire, in the middle of the South Coast of England. Despite suffering extensive damage during World War II, much of the old city walls remain, so pleas join us on a tour of the old town.

Since so much of Southampton got destroyed in the war, a lot has been rebuilt, and so there is a mix of old and new, and all too much of the horrible 1960's architecture. Apart from the original city centre and the walls, the roads and main part of the city are a real mess.

Looks a nice city. Didn't see so much of it on the way to a footie match in '77!

That statue on the bridge was cool and I loved the old city gate.
