Banding Chicken Legs With Velcro Wraps for Identification
Use Velcro Wraps to Easily Identify Your Chickens
With different color Velcro bands, I can identify my hens at a quick glance, no matter how quickly they're moving around the yard. Velcro wraps are safe, easy to adjust as the chicken grows, and remove easily.

Good ideas and great pictures.
thanks for sharing your pics! thats a great idea!
What a fabulous idea! Too bad that doesn't work when it comes to parents recalling their kids' names on a particularly hectic day....
Thank you for your pics, informative and interesting.
@Augustlace Leghorns are white and have yellow legs; the grey hen is a Partridge or Columbian Patterned Rock or Orpington (I can't tell unless I see them in person, because they are similar in color) and the black one is a Birchen Patterned SexLink (a mix breed as there is no such thing as a clean legged Birchen - a pure breed Birchen would have feathers on her legs)
I never would have thought of that. I don't band mine for 2 reasons: 1) the hard plastic bands cut into their legs and cause health problems; 2) they all have names and come when they are called so I don't have any trouble telling who is who; Anyways, I've always told others to find a better way to band their chickens and to not use the plastic or metal rings, but I didn't have an alternate option to suggest they use, and thanks to you, now I do! Thanks for the great idea!
Let's see, WD40, duct-tape and velcro... what else could anyone possibly need?
AH, YES! A PC, to find out how to use them!!! EUREKA.
I don't know anything about farming, but I found these Velcro wraps to be quite fetching! I suspect other chicken farmers will find them useful. Great job!
How interesting!
