I grew up in Trion, 1929 to1946. We attended First Baptist. We lived on the river in frog town when I was very young.
Flooding was a common thing. Trion will always be my home town.
So sad. I feel so sorry for those people. :-(
Goodnes, I heard about this while I was away, how horrible.
@Clyde Ragland: Frogtown is on the other side of the river from these pics but was also flooded. I am fortunate to live on slightly higher grounds as you mentioned. We went for I believe 10 days without drinking water this go around. The water coming through the pipes was as muddy as the river water in the pics. Its raining again today, lets hope the river sticks to its banks.
If Allgood St. is along the river and is called Frog Town, I have heard stories of a flood there around 1937 from my parent's who lived there at the time. A dog on thier porch started barking in the night as the water came up on the porch and stove wood started floating. The comotion awoke my parent's. When I was born in 1937, at Trion, my parent's lived on Pine St which is on higer ground. So the flood isn't a new thing, unfortunately. My symothy is with you all.
That is so sad and scary!
Unbelievable - my heart goes out to you and the people in your town.
Mother nature is in control we must remember that.
Very bad. I wish this will not happen to anywhere..!! :( thanks for sharing.
