Iceland's Landmannalaugar is like a rip in the space-time continuum. In summer, it's hard to tell 3 a.m. from 3 p.m. You can hike for hours without seeing a living creature.

    Iceland's pretty freaky. The only place I know where they serve you puffin meat - served in the puffin's beak. It was a wildly expensive country when I visited.
