Milkweed is a wildflower found in Michigan that has many uses and is grown commercially. Because the common variety grows well in dry soil, is resistant to pests, and is attractive the Milkweed is popular today in many gardens.

    Mother Earth News used to run articles on using milkweed fluff (with seeds removed) as insulation in clothing to replace duck down. It's really quite a marvelous - if unappreciated - plant.
