Mother Earth News used to run articles on using milkweed fluff (with seeds removed) as insulation in clothing to replace duck down. It's really quite a marvelous - if unappreciated - plant.
I've loved milkweed since I was a little girl. I must write a poem about milkweed as I'm trying to cover the wildflowers of my childhood.
I love their colors :)
