National Iwo Jima Memorial Monument
Located in Newington/New Britain, Connecticut
Dedicated in 1995, it is visible from highway Route 9. Created to honor the more than 6800 American Soliders lost in World War 2 in a harsh battle against the Japanese on the island of Iwo Jima.
