Pictures Of An Old Cemetery II

Tony Payne

This is a set of photographs that I took at the Old Cemetery in Southampton. For years the graves were just allowed to be overgrown, but now some attempts are being made to restore part of the cemetery.

Amazing photos. How sad for the parents who lost their three sons.

Lots of unlucky sailors buried here. It's sad that parts of the cemetery are so overgrown.

These pictures are lovely. The old stones are so nice compared to today's standard slabs.

Beautiful pictures. I have always found cemetaries to be peaceful and calming.

My great-grandfather died in a boating accident in his early 30's. Good thing he didn't marry at an older age... I have put many cemeteries online. Search for my name, and you will see!

Yes John, this is the large cemetery that backs onto the common.

Nice pictures Tony. Is this cemetery next to the common in Southampton?
