My fiancee and I had been for a walk at Netley on Southampton Water, and as we got back to the car, the Queen Mary 2 was leaving on a cruise to Fort Lauderdale.

Post a CommentOh, the pic with the guys in it is MUCH better. They always tell you to try to get people in your Pics. I love it.
The first shot was actually taken while my fiancee was driving the car and out of the passenger window. We didn't think that we would be able to park. It was getting towards evening, and the two elderly gentlemen just happened to be in the picture as I snapped away. I think they actually add a lot to the picture, better than the second which was taken in a hurry but after we stopped the car for a couple of minutes.
Gee, hope she makes it! :P
I love the first shot!
Great shots.
Nice pics!
I loved your photos. Thank you for posting them on AC.LL
These are great, Tony!!
Southampton is like the Fort Lauderdale of the UK, where many of the passenger ships leave from (as well as left from in the past). Many immigrants to the USA from Europe would have sailed from here. If you ever get a chance to visit, they are planning to open a new Titanic Museum for 2012, the 100th anniversary of the sinking.
Don't know that I'd want to take the same route as the Titanic! I do a lot of genealogy, and Southampton, of course, keeps coming up... Seems England and emigration went hand in hand, and not merely for nationals leaving, but internationals...
