How to Make a Work Path Using Photoshop , a New Easy Feature in Photoshop Cs2

Peter R
Photoshop have the text warp effect since Photoshop 5.5 , Now a new features in Cs added to it makes it more easy with text effect and so , But I was sad that if you want to make a text path added to a shape for example you have to use anther graphic programs like Illustrator . Now you can a cool and easy Path around shapes , text or hand drawing shapes .

Lets start applying a Path to a normal shape :

Step#1 :

-Create a new document , with a black background or customize your new document as you like .

-Create a new layer , Name it Path Shape . This layer will contains the actual shape that you want to apply your path over it . This shapes may any shape you like so try to follow up with the tutorial first then apply you path to a Varity of shapes this gives you the experience to understand what you need to do to apply a work path over any thing or any shapes .

Step#2:

-Select the Rectangle Tool and on the new layer start dragging the rectangle until you shape it .

Step#3:
-Click windows Menu > Paths .

-You will see your shape already added to paths panel in a new Path layer . As you see in this panel it contains all you
document paths and you may apply a number of paths to apper in your document but first try it with one path then you will know how to edit and work with a number of paths .

Step#4:

-Select the Path Layer

-Select The Text Tool Then stand right on the edge of your shape and click your text tool

-Start adding your text around the edges .

Lets start applying a Path around a Text :

Step#1 :

-Create a new document , with a black background or customize your new document as you like .

Step#2:

-Select the Text Tool and write the text you want to work with .

-Type of text have no effects when you apply a path it may changes from one to anther with the same path but it have now effect on the actual path .

Step3:

-Select the text layer and right click on it and select Create work Path .

-Click windows Menu > Paths .

-You will see your Text already added to paths panel in a new Path layer as same as you saw with shape path ..

Step 4:
-Select the Path Layer

-Select The Text Tool Then stand right on the edge of your shape and click your text tool

-Start adding your text around the edges .

A good tip you must know that when you make a text or a shape a path you can make the original shape visible or invisible , so you can make the path appears alone or the path along with the shape also .

After reviewing this tip you may start make changes to your text or chaps , You may try different kind of shapes and text to apply a paths on them .. Also you may try to apply a path over a warp text this way you will have a very cool new tip by mixing the two effects .

Hope you find it interesting , Until next time .
