Physical Beauty vs Spiritual Beauty

What is Real Beauty?

Shana Davis
What is Beauty? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; some will tell you. So, if that's the case than everything is beautiful right? Um, probably not . . . because everyone has an opinion and everyone's opinions vary Just like beauty based on whom you ask. So who determines what is beautiful, the media, society, magazines, music videos, the majority rule? "If everybody says it's beautiful, than it must be beautiful because that is what everyone keeps saying. If I hear it long enough and see it long enough than eventually I'll believe what the majority is telling me." A scenario of how one can be conditioned or even brain washed by pop culture on what is considered beautiful. Again I ask, what is beauty? Can we really define beauty? I say yes, and that is when I came to my conclusion that there is two types of beauty, spiritual and physical.

False Beauty

Physical beauty is what I like to call false beauty because it's subjective. This type of beauty can be bought through plastic surgery, cosmetics, diet pills, supplements, clothes, food, you name it. This type of beauty is based on resources and if you have the money then you have access to these resources that will aid in your physical beauty. Yes, I know that physical attractiveness is important and appealing to the senses because we are a superficial society. We need to be delighted with our eye candy from time to time, some more than others. Now don't get me wrong, I think it's very important to take care of yourself and there is nothing wrong with wanting to look your best and feel you're best. Everybody does something for beauty . . . everybody. There is no such thing as natural beauty everyone does something to alter their appearance in some way.

True Beauty

Spiritual beauty is real beauty because it's in the heart and soul of the person. When someone has spiritual beauty their presence if felt and their beauty radiates ten times more than merely someone who is just about physical beauty. How do you attain this inner beauty? Through God, through knowing that there is a higher power who gives you all the strength and confidence you need to live your best life. When you are living your best life, you are at peace, confident, happy and you will radiate an inner glow that one will naturally be attracted too. Feeling this good will automatically make you want to take care of yourself and your health which will benefit your overall physical appearance. Physical attractiveness will no longer be your main concern you will have inner balance knowing who you are; knowing that you are beautiful and your body is a temple. You will no longer be subjected to low self esteem, jealousy and envy trying to compete according to superficial standards. You will eventually attract quality people into your life who love all of you, your mind body and soul. Now that's beauty.
