Picaboo is a website that allows you to upload pictures from your digital camera, and turn them into a photo storybook with words that you yourself add. You pick the color and binding material that the book cover is made of, the style of the pages, where the pictures will be laid out, etc. There are some custom backgrounds for each page that you can choose from. There are also a number of frames you can choose to frame each picture.
Picaboo Books make great gifts. There are different themes you can choose from when making your book. You could choose to make a Baby Album, Family Heritage Album, Christmas Album, Family Album, and right now there is currently a Valentines Day Album.
This is how it works. You go to the Picaboo website, and download the free program. Once you open it up, you will see that you can begin designing your book for free. You only have to pay if you are happy with the book and want to order it. You can first pick what color cover you want, and then begin uploading pictures you want to add to the book. Once that is done, you pick the layout and background of the pages. You can add text, and drag and drop the pictures you uploaded into the picture layouts anyway that you please. The best part is that while you are editing it, you can flip through the pages, like it's already a book. The process lets you see how it will look as an actual book, it's very cool.
I personally made my husband a small Picaboo Book for Christmas. I wrote a little story about the day we met and added pictures of the place we met, pictures of our first date, our first birthday's together, restaurants we visited, and then skipped ahead and added pictures of our first house, us at the beach, when our son was born, etc. I chose a black cover, cloud backgrounds on each page and chose glossy paperback for my cover option. The hardcover would have been great, but the paperback is cheaper. The paperback that I ordered was small(There are options of small, medium and large, with textures of textured paper, glossy paper,Fine Linen, Suede, Leather, and Metallic.) and cost about $9.99, total with shipping it was about $13.00. A well spent $13.00 for a meaningful gift. Picaboo, I see you!
