Pick a Perfect Fit for Glee Wannabee Leona Lewis

Leona Lewis Wants to Add Singing and Scandal to Teen Musical Comedy

Linda Ann Nickerson
Leona Lewis has made no secret of her deep desire to appear on "Glee." The 25-year-old pop star (2006 "X Factor" winner and Simon Cowell protegee) told E Online, "I'd love to be on 'Glee.' I'd love to play a rebel ... a real biker chick in leather and covered in tattoos."

Apparently, the "Glee" makers nixed Leona Lewis' biker babe idea.

Of course, the Guyanese-Welsh songstress offered another option.

"I could also play like a geek who becomes a swan," Leona Lewis crooned.

Pondering the possibilities, Fox TV's "Glee" writers may find a more suitable spot for the "Bleeding Love" singer.

Where could Leona Lewis fit on "Glee"?

As a journalist, dabbling into the dangerous waters of creative writing, I'd propose a possible story line for Leona Lewis on "Glee."

Why not offer Leona Lewis a recurring role as Will Schuester's long-lost sister? Leona Lewis is obviously too old to play a teen student, although the bulk of the "Glee" teen cast is made up of mid-twenties performers.

As the sister of McKinley High School choir director Mr. Schue (Matthew Morrison), Leona Lewis could be the uber-talented proverbial black sheep of the Schuester family, who returns from years on the London stage to haunt her brother's workplace. She could step in as a school librarian , then reveal her more free-spirited side by serenading Principal Figgins (Iqbal Theba), stopping among the stacks for a book.

In real life, Leona Lewis and Matthew Morrison have performed together before, doing a cover of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" in June 2010 in London. Apparently, Matthew Morrison and Leona Lewis were spotted together at a February 2011 Grammy Awards party too.

The "Glee" plot would be thickened by an emotionally laced duet between the Schuester siblings, which would be overheard by such eavesdroppers as McKinley guidance counselor Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays), Rachel Barry (Lea Michele), Finn Hudson (Corey Monteith) and Sam Evans (Chord Overstreet).

Emma would misinterpret the duet, assuming the two were a romantic item. Rachel would fume with vocal envy, while Finn and Sam would embark on rival campaigns to gain the new school staffer's attention.

Principal Figgins, of course, would be smitten by Ms. Schue (Leona Lewis), much to the chagrin of Cheerios coach and resident meanie Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch). What sort of unseen advantage might such a liaison offer the glee club director?

Then, of course, Leona Lewis' "Glee" character would fall for soft-hearted bad-boy Noah Puckerman (Mark Salling), although Puck heckles at McKinley High by flirting with a student. This would lead to a heart-rending personal conflict for Principal Figgins, still crushing over her.

(This entire hypothetical "Glee" story-line is now copyrighted here, but we writers tend to be open to negotiation.)

How would you fit Leona Lewis into the "Glee" cast? Do you think Leona Lewis ought to be on "Glee" at all?

Don't watch Glee often and I'm not a huge Lewis fan. Not that I don't think she is a good singer, mind you.

Great post; since I don't watch this I can not share my opinion!
