Pidgin, the New Gaim Instant Messenger Client!

The IM client formerly known as Gaim, is now known as pidgin. This extremely popular instant messaging client merges many different instant messaging clients into one easy to use program. This program merges such popular IM clients such as, AOL Instant Messenger, ICQ, and MSN Messenger to name a few.

The ability to merge all of these different IM clients into one easy to use program is helpful to those who use multiple IM clients to keep in contact with their friends and family. With the ability to merge contacts into different groups from different IM clients also makes sorting your friends list a simple breeze with drag and drop abilities.

Pidgin also uses most of the features of all the other IM clients, such as emoticons, file transfers, and even buddy icons. The program is very easy to install, and even helps the user add their own accounts to the service.

Each account that is added into the program is adjustable in many ways. These include password changes, email address changes, and user information changes. This makes having two or more IM clients a thing of the past.

There are also many different plug-ins available for pidgin. These include popular things with IM clients such as font output, themes, and timestamps. Pidgin also has it's own chat logging, where the user can look into their logs from previous chat sessions. This is especially handy for someone who likes to keep track of who they talk to.

Overall, I have tested pidgin in Windows XP professional for a solid week. Being a heavy user of more than four different IM clients myself, it's proved itself very useful. I have used other IM grouping programs before, such as Cerulean Studios Trillian IM client. I would recommend pidgin over Trillian to anyone who uses more than one IM client like myself.
