Piers Morgan Charlie Sheen Interview Most Successful Yet?

Robert Dougherty
Last night's Piers Morgan Charlie Sheen interview was technically a surprise. Yet the Piers Morgan Charlie Sheen interview was inevitable, since the actor is going on every show under the sun. By the end of the week, there may be no show in which he doesn't make a cameo on - except perhaps his own. So far, his tour has been consumed with attacks against CBS, Chuck Lorre, and anyone else stopping him from returning to Two and a Half Men. However, the Piers Morgan Charlie Sheen interview may actually have been his easiest talk to date.

On the night before his 20/20 primetime special, the actor made a last minute stopover to CNN's newest program. As usual, he had grandiose comments about himself, as he said he was "super bitching" and that he was a winner, unlike AA "losers."

Yet the Piers Morgan Charlie Sheen interview had the host add on to the bragging this time. Morgan called his guest the "Che Guevara of television" and "one of life's greatest characters" while praising Two and a Half Men as one of TV's best shows.

In most of his interviews, the embattled star has been the whole show, but in this case, the interviewer actually played along. In fact, Morgan was the first one to fawn over Sheen, in a change of pace from the rest of the media.

As such, the Piers Morgan Charlie Sheen interview may have been the actor's most successful to date. He certainly wasn't challenged heavily on his attacks, and the bar was set too high for him to top his past insanity. At this point in his tour, he is starting to do more than just lay into CBS and Lorre, as he also introduced his live in 'goddesses' on NBC and ABC this morning.

Even he may have run out of particularly crazy things to say, although he can still go off at CBS, Lorre and AA at the slightest chance. Therefore, he may be working more on being charming, although it might be too little, too late for many. However, his latest interviewer was won over easily.

The easiness of the Piers Morgan Charlie Sheen interview earned the CNN host a "jeer" in TV Guide's Cheers & Jeers column. They accused him of being as soft as Larry King was, and of "pussyfooting" over the tough questions. However, Entertainment Weekly's Ken Tucker gave Sheen credit for "an impressive performance" by his standards.

The troubled star got to thank Mel Gibson and Sean Penn for their support, and joke about how he's a bigger headline than the Libya crisis. It would appear that the Piers Morgan Charlie Sheen interview was among his biggest victories of the last week - but will he keep up that momentum on 20/20 tonight?

I do not believe that the network and/or those that decided to 'cancel' the tapings of the remaining shows are any better than Charlie Sheen. Ok, so Charlie had some public rants, but is the response to that appropriate. Both Charlie and the Powers that be are carrying on with NO regard for the other actors and crew affected by the show. I like Charlie Sheen and feel his private personal issues should remain that, but I admit I am beginning to dislike the "powers that be" as they sit back and pretend to be the "victims" or so "innocent" in all of this. BOTH sides are throwing tantrums and neither are stopping to think about the MANY people who watch and love the show and the hard working cast and crew that earn their livings via Two and Half Men. Shame on BOTH sides....grown men should grow up and carry ON WITH THE SHOW! Good luck Cast, Crew and Charlie!

Charlie Sheen's show isn't a sitcom; it's a reality show. If he were playing a priest, I'd say to can him; but since he's playing himself, I say, "On with the show!" The fact is, he's merely a Peck's bad boy for the 21st century.

I'll bet he's fooling everyone and is actually quite brilliant.. As long as he shows up for work and honors his contract, then CBS should back off and let him do his job.. As for bringing in John Stamos?? That's the kiss of death for any sitcom when you change actors and the characters they play.. That 70's Show died when Eric Forman left.. That's what will happen if you try and replace Sheen.. It's essentially his life show on a sitcom..

I rarely comment on things in the news. However, After having seen the recent interviews with Charlie Sheen, I feel the need to put in my two cents. I have to agree with Charlie that what he does on his own time is his own business. It appears that in spite of all of his partying, he has never shown up on the set stoned or not ready for work. So, it would appear that he is being punished by the producers of his show, not for anything he as done or failed to do, but rather how he has been portrayed in the media. It finally got to him when goons from the production company showed up at his door and demanded that he check into rehab. As long as he was doing his job, they did not have any right to "demand" anything of him.

Now, I know that the studio will argue that there is some sort of "Morals Clause" in Charlie's contract that allows them to cancel. But, give me a break. They create a "character" (Charlie Harper) that is essentially very much like C
