A Brubeck Poem

Khara E. House

For days and a half
They allowed their emotions to run wild
A sort of religious, spiritual awakening
Of love and all its careless implications
In her arms, his body felt soft and pliable
Like his weight was nothing but sculpting clay
Between her gentle fingers, cupped beneath his arm
Holding him gently and calling attention
To his limp figure

And she loved him-
Her garment wrapped itself in his, softening their features
Drawing them together in one silky entity
As though his life force
Drew from her own
They posed elegantly
His stature

Slumped but hardly rigid in her embrace
He knew new features would mask their own
But there, in her arms, for the moment
Wrapped up in her spirit
Touched by her love, warmed by her softly scented flesh,
He felt alive-flourishing-
And knew he would never
Visit this again

Love the flow on your poem. It drew me in, made me keep reading, and left me wanting more at the end! :-)
