The cola is made with real cane sugar and filtered carbonated water for purity. Both of these sound good, but somewhere the recipe has went wrong and much like the GUS Soda that I wrote about click here to read the result is a flat shasta taste.
Once again I subjected my coworker to a taste test and this was one soda that she could not suck down.
I was left with the task of finishing off the drink, and the days of purchasing off brand colas came roaring back to me.
The cola is a product of Pig Iron BBQ located in Seattle, Washington.
A check of the restaurant's Web site shows that Pig Iron Cola is not listed on the menu as a drink option.
After tasting it I can see why.
The site has a page for reviews which indicates that Pig Iron BBQ must be pretty good. However I did not see one for the soda.
The label of the cola features the Pig Iron logo which is the face of a pig with one eye open and one closed, a hoop ear ring in the nose and a sheepish grin.
Despite the fact that the cola did not make my taste buds happy, I did find a positive review on the soda.
One reviewer describes the cola as "totally excellent" and "the best of all three worlds, real sugar, Pepsi level sweetness and a complete mouth bite of Coke."
I just didn't get that, as I said I got flat shasta or an off brand cola taste.
In conclusion, I would not choose Pig Iron Cola over any of the well known cola products.
I may consider giving it another try with BBQ to see if that is the secret to enjoying the taste.
But as of now I believe it is a taste that only swine could enjoy.

Post a CommentWow. I am actually ver disappointed in this review. Pig Iron Cola is my all-time favorite cola. I first had it in Seattle and I didn't like the first bottle because I thought it tasted funny. The second bottle, I liked more. The third bottle was amazing.
There are a lot of nuances to this drink that get missed because you're not expecting them the first time. I'd say give it another try.
It's definitely a loud drink. Make sure you drink it medium-cold with no other tastes in your mouth.
Pig Iron cola is great. It's like a party explodes in your mouth when you drink one. Massive cola flavor. I don't see how this soda can be reviewed negatively.
I totally disagree....its my favorite. I buy a case of cane soda at a time from a local soda store here in colorado, and 1/2 of that case is always Pig Iron Soda!
Well, Yuck! :(
I almost thought you were pulling my leg. Sounds horrible.
I love the title!
Yuck
Thanks for another great read. Have a Happy New Year!
Nice review! Sure is an odd name for a soda. Ha.
Hmm, unless there was a reason ... :)
