Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is Great for Grandma and Me

Amy Stepp
If you are a grandparent and you are planning on taking your grandchildren on vacation, there are not many places to choose from that will allow you to have fun and the kids to have fun as well. Let's face it, kids hate being seen with their parents and surely hate hanging out with them. They are that much more worse when it comes to being with their grandparents. However if you take a look at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee I believe you will find the reason why I always loved to vacation with my grandparents there.

Dining
Pigeon Forge is known for their great Southern cooking and unique Smokey Mountain taste. You will always find something in Pigeon Forge that will satisfy everyone's taste buds from fish, chicken, steak, fast food, southern food, and beyond! One of the best places I believe any adult and child can agree on in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is Huck Finn's. At Huck Finn's on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge, they serve all different types of food, however they have a live band or singer during the weekends and the Southern-style appetizers of beans and bread will make your whole group happy!

Lodging
Any hotel will do in this town as long as it has an indoor pool. I recommend staying at the Ramada Inn on Music Road (which is off the Parkway in Pigeon Forge). Nothing fancy, but it is a family oriented hotel, with an indoor pool, great breakfast and clean atmosphere. I also recommend if the money provides, to get two room to separate the kids from you! They will thank you for it in the long run!

Activities
Here is where Pigeon Forge, Tennessee comes alive. Lets start off at Wonder Works. A museum of discoveries that is upside down! In there you can feel what it is like to be in a hurricane, or a tornado. Head on over to race grandpa in the Nascar stimulation cars! Kids will love it and you will enjoy the rush it is to be young again.

Try one of the towns famous Dinner and a Show. They have a number of them from Dixie Stampede to Black Bear Jamboree. I have never seen the Dixie Stampede show, however I have graced the Black Bear and I believe kids of all ages will love this one. The food is delicious and the singing is amazing. Songs range from new age pop all the way to gospel music. Your grandkids will be talking about for years on end.

I hope I have given you the itch to at least check out all what Pigeon Forge, Tennessee has to offer. If you need more information then head over to www.pigeonforge.com and get all the information for a fun family vacation!
