India is a country that is full of holy temples, situated in all its remote corners. Each temple has a history behind it as to when it was built, who built it, and what is the importance of it. When you get the answers of these questions for any temple, it will be a place of pilgrimage for all the Hindus. As I originally belong to city of Vadodara in the Gujarat State of India, I have more information on such holy temples located near Vadodara, which are really very holy places of pilgrimage.

The temple of Kayavarohan is one such famous temple, which is situated only around 15 miles away from the city of Vadodara. It is 64 miles away from Ahmedabad, and 100 miles away from the city of Surat. One can easily reach this famous temple by hired taxi or bus service from any major cities of the Gujarat State. However, it is very easy to reach here from Vadodara, as it can be one day's outing from Vadodara. This place is very ancient. It is said that Ichhapuri was the main place of pilgrimage in Satyuga, Mayapuri in Treta Yuga, Meghavati in Dwapar Yuga, and Kayavarohan in present Kali Yuga. That is why Kayavarohan is considered as one of the holiest places of the pilgrimage in India. This temple has a Lingam of Lord Shiva, made up of smooth black stone. It is said that Maharishi Vishwamitra installed this Lingam of Lord Shiva at the Ramayana times. This place was full of Sanskrit universities, yajna shalas, and the temples of many Hindu gods in the ancient times before around 5000 years. It is also said that the 28 th birth of Lord Shiva, which was known as god Lakulesh, entered inside the lingam of Lord Shiva here. Hence, this temple is known as Kayavarohan. There is a beautiful garden all around this temple. There is also a guesthouse, operated through the temple management for the pilgrims to stay. There is one meditation cave here at the temple, which is located underground. One can concentrate and enter easily in to Dhyana in this cave.

There are around 18 important temples all around this famous Kayavarohan Tirth. The famous temple of Shani devta is situated only around 2 miles away from this temple. The other temple of Kumbheshwar Mahadev is also situated just opposite to Shani devta temple. People visit this Shani devta temple to get relief from the painful panoti of Shani devta. The temple of Tilkeshwar Mahadev is situated in the village of Tilakwada, located at the bank of River Narmada. There is a very large fair held here at Kayavarohan, once every year in the month of Shravan as per Gujarati calendar, which falls in August every year. Thousands of pilgrims visit this holy temple at that time. The temple management provides free lunch, snack, and dinner to all the pilgrims, visiting this temple all through the year. However, you need to inform two to three hours in advance about it to the temple kitchen staff. The nutritious Gujarati food is served both in lunch and dinner. I had an opportunity to stay here at the temple guesthouse for three days as I had taken the batch of around 50 young children to this holy place to teach them Yoga. The atmosphere in the temple complex is very peaceful and is the most ideal for performing Yoga and Pranayama. However, it would be better if you carry the drinking water bottles with you, as the water available at the temple, which is drawn from the well may not be suitable to all. All these nearby temples can be visited by staying at Kayavarohan by hired car.

I wish that all my AC readers may like to visit this holy, calm, and quiet place during their next visit to India, particularly to Gujarat State. I am very confident that they all would love this silent and holy place very much.
