Pillar was finishing up 2008 by playing a live show featuring songs from their latest album "For The Love Of The Game" which was released on February 26, 2008 earlier that year. The crowd was ready to rock and you might have seen some familiar faces from Creation Festival The Tour. Fans of Pillar showed their support by filling the floor and purchasing merchandise.
Once Pillar hit the stage they played songs from each disc starting with "Where Do We Go From Here" and when a song from "For The Love Of The Game" was played the screens on both sides of the stage displayed that album cover. Since the setting was more intimate they were able to talk with the crowd and witness in length about their faith. There were no time constraints and that allowed them to call up a fan to sing on stage with them.
A young fan named Noah, who shared the same name as the guitar player Noah Henson, was invited on stage to sing the chorus of "Turn It Up", he was confident but a little nervous. He did the best he could and everyone helped him out from the crowd. Rob Beckley thanked the crowd for supporting the band throughout their career. When a song from "For The Love Of The Game" was starting Rob would tell the story behind the lyrics. "Turn It Up" references Christian song titles such as "Sea Of Faces" from Kutless, "Whispers In The Dark" from Skillet and "Phenomenon" from Thousand Foot Krutch and many more recognizable songs and Christian bands.
The show lasted 2 ½ hours and towards the end they finished with their signature song "Fireproof", Rob's children came on stage with their Guitar Hero guitars and helped dad sing along. It was great to see his kids involved in the show and the interaction between them and the band.
After the show was over they were available for pictures, autographs and they enjoyed talking with each person. They are very personable and champions for Christ, they witness through their music and their actions. This was a once in a blue moon chance to see them again within the same year.
