Pilot Knob RV Resort Near Yuma, Arizona

Near Winterhaven, California, and Felicity, Arizona

We could have chosen any other RV park, but we chose Pilot Knob RV Resort just outside of Winterhaven, California, and just across the freeway from Felicity, Arizona - the center of the world! After spending a week or two there, we were so glad we made that choice. We didn't have any trouble finding lots of fun things to do in the area. Especially with Yuma so close.

The park has a bustling clubhouse with many activities for everyone. I played pokeno almost every night along with card bingo and dauber bingo. I was especially impressed by the lady that has developed the Quilter's Corner. Marylou is a wonder. She will show you anything about quilting that you need to know if you'll help her make her quilts. She and all the ladies that come and go make about 600 quilts every year for the poor in Mexico and in several other countries. Quilts plus pillows and cloth bags are made every year. I even helped, not a whole lot, but I helped cut some squares for them. It's quite impressive.

We were lucky enough to ride along with Marylou and her husband when they made a missionary trip into Algodones, Mexico to help about 5 families and a rehab institute with food, clothes and anything else she knows they need. It was very eye opening indeed and we so enjoyed the day with them. The children are wonderful! The come running with hugs and kisses all around!

Of course there's the usual card games, pot lucks and breakfasts in the clubhouse. There's a library building where you can connect to wifi, or maybe it was DSL, and get connected to the internet while others are busily working a puzzle or maybe reading.

Pilot Knob RV Resort is situated on 23 acres of desert property. You can see Pilot Knob Mountain from the resort. This park is very clean and except for the traffic noise on the highway, it's quite relaxing and quiet. There a laundramat near the pool and the pool is great! I'm not a pool person but they said it was about 80 degrees and there's also a hot tub.

There are 244 full hook-up sites and 5 partial hook-up sites with 30 amp power but you can ask for and get 50 amps if you need for an extra $3.00 a day. The maximum RV length is 45' so ours fit very comfortably and the site we had was a pull-through. They do have park models for rent that can sleep up to 6 people. Right now the nightly rate for the park models is $45 with a minimum stay of 2 nights. But you need to know that linens are not provided so you need to bring them with you. That means sheets and towels.

This park's peak season, being in Arizona, is January through March. Reservation are required. Pets are welcome but must be on a lease and, of course, you need to pick up after your pets.

There's shuffleboard and on Saturdays there's a craft sale in the clubhouse. Also, I think it's on Tuesdays, you may put out anything you'd like to sell like a garage sale right at your site!

Like I said there's the Center of The World museum right across the highway and there's fishing and hiking all around. We happen to enjoy geocaching and found several in the area. Don't forget to go across the border to Algodones, Mexico. We made several trips and, in fact, my husband had some dental work done for about ΒΌ of what it would have cost at home. Yuma is very close by with all the shopping and restaurants you could want.

We made a short trip to the Imperial Valley and had a date shake. Oh my, but those are good! So don't miss Pilot Knob RV Resort when you're in the Yuma area. You won't be sorry.
