Pimpmyride.com Equals SCAM

LifeWriter
Several months ago, I submitted an application to MTV's pimp my ride. The vehicle I drive is a 1974 Cadillac, which is borrowed. It gets me around town but that's it. I'm grateful to have any vehicle to drive, of course, but there's always the worry it will decide it's had enough. I thought it would be pretty cool indeed to drive around our little town of Daleville, AL in a pimped out car- with the owner's permission, of course. Turns out, that dream easily could have turned into a nightmare had my intuition chosen to fail in a critical moment.

After several months of hearing nothing from my application, I figured that was that, and have resigned myself to being a single parent with a small disability check and a very old, very gold boat....errr... car.

Imagine my surprise this morning when I received a glorious email from membership@pimpmyride.com which said Congratulations- I'd been selected as a winner to have my ride pimped! The site to which I was directed was http://pimpmyride.com/finalistapplication.html which in turn sent me to paypal for a "processing fee".

Oh joy of joys! I could already see myself driving around in my new old car with a poker theme complete with all new well... everything!

Ah, the catch. There's always that bubble bursting catch, yes?

Due to the "large volume of requests", the site required a "small application/processing fee." Then the kicker- they stated we must allow 30-45 days for the next step. The problem with that?

This is taken directly from an article which can be found here:

http://consumerblog.abc13.com/2007/09/houston-woman-f.html

"As for refunds of the $20 processing fee, the company told us if you ask for it within 72 hours, you get it all back, within 15 days you get half of it back and after that, no refund."

I did google pimpmyride scam and came up with a wealth of money saving information. My elation turned to disappointment, which finally turned to disgust. Just another scam to dash the hopes of people just trying to get by; people for whom twenty bucks is very hard to come by. Especially when that twenty bucks goes directly into the hands of greedy scammers.

Turns out, MTV not only chooses just vehicles from Southern California and they never charge anyone to be on the show, but they no longer even run the show anymore.

pimpmyride.com is not affiliated with MTV at all, it's run by a Caribbean company and it's a bona-fide scam.

Save your money, and delete the email, and resign yourself to either making a cool and decked out car by yourself, or settle for your old clunker. Then use the twenty bucks for gas to treat yourself to something nice as a reward for not falling for yet another scam.
