The feature that I like best about Pine Mountain firelogs is that they are extremely easy to light. The paper wrapping lights quickly and effortlessly, and the paper does a fast job of lighting the firelog itself. Generic firelogs brands such as the Safeway firelogs are notorious for being difficult to light, so there is no question that Pine Mountain firelogs are better than store brand firelogs. The surprising thing to discover was that Pine Mountain firelogs are easier to light than even Duraflame logs, which are touted to be the easiest artificial firelogs to light.
The PIne Mountain firelogs light quickly, flare up robustly, and burn well for the full two hours stated on the package, which speaks to the main flaw in Pine Mountain firelogs. Pine mountain firelogs are smaller than Duraflame logs. Dureflame firelogs last for three hours or more, while Pine Mountain logs last for barely two hours. The good thing about smaller firelogs is that they are cheaper than Duraflame logs. I can usually obtain a box of six Pine Mountain firelogs for around $15.00, which is significantly cheaper than a box of six Duraflame logs. Of course, the downside of a box of six Pine Mountain firelogs is that it is very easy to use up the whole box of six firelogs in the course of a single day or a long evening.
Firelogs in general burn cleaner than firewood, which means that Pine Mountain firelogs are perfect for a small apartment or for fireplaces in areas that restrict the burning of real firewood. Pine Mountain firelogs are small, easy to carry, and their easiness to light means that you can expend a minimum of effort getting a small fire lit in your fireplace for ambiance. Artificial firelogs such as Duraflame or Pine Mountain firelogs do not produce as much heat as real firewood, and as such they are useful primarily for ambiance and not for producing much heat to warm a room.
In conclusion, Pine Mountain firelogs are an excellent value, despite their small size and the fact that they last for only two hours. Pine Mountain firelogs light more quickly than generic brand firelogs, and more quickly than Duraflame logs. I find Pine Mountain firelogs to be some of the best firelogs available, and they have become a regular staple in my apartment's fireplace.

Post a CommentMine are easy enough to start and burn great for about 40 minutes. Then all i get is a small flame at each end of the log which ads neither ambience or heat, just annoyance. And at that burn rate would probably last 10 hours.
I think these firelogs are terrible and the reviewer does sound like someone hired by the company. My house always smells like gasoline and when I go outside, it smells the same. I can't believe it's healthy to breathe in those fumes. I think they're terrible and I regret buying two cases.
Hi Fred. Nope, I do not work for them (although that is a funny suggestion!). I have been buying them from Walgreens in Campbell, CA. No idea why yours won't light. I don't use a starter log for mine; I light them according to the package's directions. I also recently tried Java Log, which also lit well for me but was somewhat smokier. Best of luck! - Zachary
I don't know where you got your logs but the ones just like yours that I have will NOT light nor stay lit when I use a fire starter log to get them lit. Nor will the company answer the phone or return my email.
I think you work for them.
