Begin with a variety of pinecones in different sizes. Spread out a thick layer of newspaper or craft table covers over the work area. Spray paint the pinecones white with craft paint. Be sure to spray under all the layers of the pinecone evenly to look like solid figures of white snow. You may need to spray two coats on the pinecones to completely coat them.
Allow the pinecones to dry completely before trying to decorate them. Gather a variety of craft materials, like scraps of fabric, pipe cleaners, pom poms, different colored paints and buttons.
Place two dots of black paint, or two small black buttons, near the top of the snowman pinecone for eyes. Cut a half inch of orange pipe cleaner and glue to the pinecone craft for a carrot nose. Add two arms for the snowman out of brown or black craft pipe cleaners.
Cut long, narrow rectangles of scrap cloth for scarves to keep your snowmen crafts warm during Christmas. Cut a fringe on either end of the scrap scarf. Wrap it around the pinecone below the nose. Use a few drops of craft glue to keep it in place.
Glue three tiny buttons down the front of the snowman. Or make a cape from scrap cloth and fasten it around the neck of the pinecone snowman. Make a pair of earmuffs for the snowman by gluing two small pom poms on either side of the snowman's head. Attach a short piece of pipe cleaner to the pom poms.
Arrange a snowman family by placing two large pinecone snowmen in a group with a medium and small pinecone. Decorate the snowmen to look like a mom, dad, and children. You can also decorate this craft to resemble your family Christmas portrait.
Have one of your snowmen sitting on skis by painting popsicle sticks. Give the snowman's arms two short pieces of pipe cleaners to be the ski rods. Add cotton balls, pulled apart, as snow on the tips of the skis and around the snowmen Christmas family.
Make Christmas carol songbooks from scraps of craft paper. Arrange the snowmen's arms so they are holding the songbooks open in front of them. Make a dark circle of paint for the snowmen's singing mouths.
