Pink Over Gray Scarf: A Quick and Easy Scarf Pattern

Mary Gindling
This quick and easy scarf is created by weaving strands of yarn through a crochet mesh. You can easily make one of your own in just a few hours, and it's so easy you can use the pattern to teach a beginner to crochet. Once you've mastered the technique, you can use it to make a quick and easy afghan or stole.

Materials:

One 4-ounce skein Red Heart Worsted Weight Yarn (the model was made with Heather)
One 4-ounce skein Red Heart Bright & Lofty (the model was made with Bikini)
Aluminum or Plastic Crochet Hook Size I
Yarn Needle

Finished Size: The scarf measures 4-1/2" x 62"

Gauge: 4 sts = 1", 3 rows = 2"

Abbreviations:

Ch: chain
DC: double crochet
Sk: skip

Mesh: Ch 213

Row 1: DC in 4th ch from hook, (ch 1, sk 1 ch, DC in next ch) across. Ch 4, turn.
Row 2: (DC in next DC, ch 1) across, ending with dc in 2nd ch of turning chain.
Rows 3-8: Repeat row 2. Tie off. Weave in ends.

Weaving: Cut 16 pcs, each 82 inches long, of Bright & Lofty yarn. Use yarn needle to weave yarn through mesh, weaving two strands in each row of mesh, working one strand over the end bar, and the next under, being careful not to pull yarn too tight while weaving. Tie each pair of yarn strands together with a half knot, trim ends of strands as necessary.
