Pinky the Horse

Harold Dean Sink
What manner of horse is this I see?
His mane and coat, and his eyes as well
Are all pink, and so is his tail.

He's not what I'd call an albino horse.
He is as healthy as can be
And loves to scratch on a tree.

Yet, his hooves are large like those of a shire.
His coat and height, an Arabian well done.
There is also Palomino in this crossed young one.

A beautiful creature his is to behold.
Although his coloring is rather strange
To be seen upon this mountainous range.

The cowboys and other help are nonchalant.
"It is one of a kind to have on our farm.
Many are puzzled, and some are alarmed.

They think it is a disease that can be caught
Among the horses they raise.
Most do not breed all that much these days."

Some say he can fly when there is a full moon.
Others say he has a friend whose color is blue.
Then again fairy tales arise from stories so true.

Jimmie's horse came true after that visit to the fair.
Little did the freak show man know
That his fib would really grow.

All it took was pink cotton candy and a little bit of faith.
Ot, and his son J.D. put it to the test.
Then one faithful day Pinky was born and is the best.

His father the Arabian, and mother Palomino,
Are the next generation of Shire mixed breeds.
Otto Sink knew what he was doing with his deeds.

Pinky is the show of the town.
He is faster than Secretariat at any race.
No other horse can keep this pace.

His youthfulness shows when he plays in the meadows.
His personality is contagious to all who stare.
Charisma flows out from Pinky's lair.

Jimmie is happy that he has a pink horse.
It is one of a kind, and the two are best buds.
What is more is Pinky loves baths that come with suds.

When Jimmie bathes Pinky, he has to hide the soap.
Otherwise Pinky will lap some up and blow through his nose.
Soon soap bubbles come out. How he does it, nobody knows.

Pinky the horse is an odd one at that.
You may hear of his stories for years to come.
The telling of his life story may never be done.
