Pinocchio Comes to Beef & Boards Fall Children's Matinee

Pinocchio, Gepetto, the Blue Fairy and Others Will Delight the Audience

Major Jester

The Beef & Boards Pyramid Players bring some magic to a wooden puppet in this fall's production of Pinocchio. The well known story of a wooden puppet who yearns to be a real boy will enchant audiences young and old in this one-hour musical adaptation opening Oct. 21 at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre, and on stage through Nov. 19.

Set in Old Italy the play starts with the kind-hearted puppet maker Gepetto dreaming of having a son. The Blue Fairy grants his wish and brings his wooden puppet Pinocchio to life. Then the real fun begins! Like most young lads, Pinocchio soon gets into all sorts of mischief. Enter the dastardly and evil Coachman who successfully lures Pinocchio to the seemingly wonderful Land of Toys. Alas, Pinocchio soon realizes that he must escape the clutches of Coachman and escape before he is turned into a donkey.

Danny Kingston stars as the mischievous puppet Pinocchio, with Mark Fishback as Gepetto, and Meghan Sands as the Blue Fairy, and Dave Ruark as the Coachman.

Pyramid Players productions are one hour in length and presented without intermission. Performances are for all ages, but offered particularly for children in preschool through sixth grade. All tickets are $12.50 and include a snack. Performances take place at 10 a.m. on Fridays and at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

Children have the opportunity to meet the cast of Pinocchio after each show for pictures and autographs.

I love live theater. I wish there was something super-close here in Nelson County, VA. There is a theater group in Barboursville, but that is a fair distance away.
