Pipestem Park as an 18-hole par-72 championship golf course along with a 9-hole par-3 course. Average cost for the 18-hole course is $40 dollars a round with a cart and the 9-hole course costs $22 with a cart. The courses are open year-round and provide beautiful views of southern West Virginia.
The park has a nature center located within it where you can view native plants and animals of West Virginia. Pipestem State Park has around 20 hiking trails where you can view the outdoor life of West Virginia. The park also features a horse stable where you can take guided horseback rides either ½ day trips or for the outdoor enthusiasts you can take an overnight horseback trip. For groups the park will do hayrides around Pipestem Park so you can see the whole park.
Pipestem also has an Olympic size outdoor swimming pool that is open during the summer months. Another activity is a miniature golf course, tennis courts and a lighted basketball court.
The main attraction around Pipestem State Park and southern West Virginia is the fishing opportunities. You can fish Bluestone Lake, Greenbrier River or the New River and all are quite close the Pipestem State Park.
The accommodations at Pipestem State Park are outstanding. The McKeever Lodge has around 113 rooms. This lodge has a heated indoor pool, sauna and an exercise room. The lodge has high speed Internet in over half the rooms as well. This lodge has a full service restaurant that is very good.
Another cool lodge is the Mountain Creek Lodge that is only accessible by an aerial tram that is over 3,600 feet long. This lodge only has 30 rooms and open only from May-October. You will get a beautiful view of Bluestone River while taking the tram down the mountain. This lodge provides a free complimentary breakfast for guests.
The other accommodation is that Pipestem State Park has 26 cottages that are available for rent year round. Each cottage has cable TV, air conditioning, and fireplace and comes with linens if you don't want to bring your own. The cottages range from 2-4 bedrooms and 13 units are pet friendly.
Pipestem State Park has over 82 camping sites with over 31 having full hookup for RV's. The camping area has full heated bathhouse along with a campground store to purchase necessities. The campground is open year round.
Pipestem State Park is quite a treasure and has something for everyone that visits the park. The nature itself is amazing to see especially late in the evening if you drive through the park you'll get to see deer walking around on the golf courses and other areas within the park.
