Pirate Party Decorations

Decorations for a party are as important as the food, games, and favors, and pirate party decorations are a great way to set the mood for a fun celebration. Here you'll find a number of easy party decorations that will make the pirate party you host a celebration to remember. You'll definitely impress the little pirates attending your kid's party with these fun and inventive ideas. Although these decorations are easy to make, you'll never find decorations like these in stores.

Skeleton Pirate

If you have skeleton decorations leftover from Halloween, they can be used for the pirate party. Dress skeleton with pirate hats and eye patches, and attach toy swords to their hands. Hang the skeleton decorations near the entryway or anywhere little pirates will roam. A personalized sign can also be made and hung near the skeleton decorations to welcome party guests.

Pirate Balloons and Streamers

Balloons and streamers are a must at a party, and a pirate party is no exception. Decorate the doorways by surrounding them with black, purple, and gold balloons, and hang streamers in between. Create a curtains of streamers in doorways to add excitement and a little bit of mystery to the party. Kids will have fun making their way through doorways of streamers, and the balloons will add a lot of festivity and color.

Decorative Treasure Chest

Pirates and treasure chests are an obvious combination, and when searching for ideas for decorations, don't forget to make a treasure chest for your little pirate's party. An impressive treasure chest can be made from a small cedar chest, a foam cooler, or another container appropriate for a pirate's chest.

Containers don't have to be painted. All you need is heavy duty double-sided tape and dark brown or black fabric. Wrap the fabric around the chest and the lid, and affix it securely with the tape. This will make a pirate's chest that looks convincing enough for a child's party, and the container won't be ruined.

Next, place a filler in the bottom of the chest, and cover it with dark material. This way you won't need as many faux jewels, coins, and other loot. Fill the chest with chocolate coins wrapped in silver or gold, faux gems and jewels, cheap necklaces like the kinds typically used at Mardi Gras, and gold pony beads. If you can't find gold pony beads, spray ordinary pony beads with gold spray paint. This will be one of the most eye-catching decorations at the party!

Make a Pirate Ship

Decorations that are useful are the best decorations of all, and a pirate ship made from cardboard boxes will be the center of the party. All you need to make a pirate's ship is two large appliance boxes, heavy-duty duct tape, black paint, an old shower curtain rod or dowel rod, and a pirate's flag. Artistic ability isn't required.

Cut off the sides of two equal boxes. This will be the opening of the ship. Next, with all other sides intact, tape the two boxes together. You'll have a partition down the center, but it's necessary for stability and strength, especially if the boxes are very large. Paint and decorate the ship, attach a pirate's flag to a pole of your choice, and the pirate ship is complete. Chances are, the kids will spend a lot of time in the ship, and no one will end up bored.

Pirate Wall Decorations

You don't have to buy wall decorations for your son or daughter's pirate party, and you don't have to be an artist to make them. Simply draw the outline of an anchor and the outline of a sword on a large piece of cardboard. Cut out the graphics, paint them with latex craft paints in colors of your choice, and hang them after they're dry.

Make an anchor and sword decorations to place on the door and anywhere else little pirates will go during the party. Simple decorations such as these are all you need to add life to the party, and with fun games and delicious food, it's sure to be a success. Give these ideas a try!
