Pisgah View Ranch - Dude Ranch in Candler, North Carolina
Country and Western Vacationing at Its Finest!
History - The Pine View Ranch is the oldest dude ranch east of the Mississippi, and the spirit of the old west permeates the grounds. Opened to the public in 1941, the Pisgah View Ranch has family history going back as far as 1790. The Pine View Ranch is currently owned by the children of Max Cogburn Sr., and their mother Mary.
Accommodations - The Pine View Ranch offers cottages and cabins to fit any size family. Whether you are going for a honeymoon, family vacation, or weekend getaway The Pine View Ranch can help you to relax in comfort. While the cabins are styled like the old west, they do have modern amenities such as electricity, heat, air conditioning, and even whirlpools in some of the cabins! If you prefer to camp, there is even a campground and RV park about a mile from the main building.
Things to do - There is more things to do there than you could possibly cover in one vacation. Some of the most popular things are horseback riding, hiking, swimming (pool), roping, trout and bass fishing, game rooms, museums, and even some good ole' down home western entertainment!
Food - The Pisgah View Ranch offers some of the best food around as they serve up three banquet style country meals a day. They also offer cookouts, fresh coffee and snacks throughout the day, and special events. The food is outstanding, and worth the price all by itself.
Location - Take Exit 44 (Enka-Candler Exit) from Interstate 40, west of Asheville and then drive south three miles on Highway 19-23 (Smokey Park Highway). At the intersection of Highway 151, turn left. Travel six miles on Highway 151 to another billboard for the Ranch telling you to turn right and then turn right onto Davis Creek Road. The Ranch will be two miles away and an another sign will take you the rest of the way.
This wonderful getaway location is the perfect cure to the everyday life we lead. If you get the chance to visit this wonderful vacation spot you will be very glad that you did.

Good review, if I didn't live in Texas I might want to visit this place ... but we are surrounded by the "dude ranch" atmosphere where we live :-) giddy-up cowboy

I'd love to visit! Great article!
Dude ranch and North Carolina seem incongruous.
