Pitango's Organic Pumpkin, Leek and Spinach Risotto Review

Amanda Thompson
Like many people I'm trying to eat a healthy diet and I'm also trying to eat more organic food. But the time it takes to prepare meals from scratch with organic produce is scarce and I'm often at the mercy of quick options. Instead of turning to the fast food restaurants I decided to try a ready made product from Pitango that is healthy and organic.

Why Pitango?

Pitango is a food company that uses organic ingredients to provide high quality ready made meals that provide great flavor and more nutrients than food that has been covered in pesticides. Their food is of the highest quality because of their dedication to using delicious organic products. It is a food product made in New Zealand from the freshest local products available.

The great thing about Pitango is that they make their food in small batches to assure quality. Their goal is to make their food taste like it was homemade instead of microwaved.

What's in it? Pitango Organic Pumpkin, Leek and Spinach Risotto Ingredients

Purified Water, Organic Arborio Rice, Organic Pumpkin, Organic Leek, Organic Cream, Organic Spinach, Organic Onion, Organic Garlic, Organic White Wine, Parmesan Cheese (Pasteurised Milk, Salt, Starter Culture, Enzyme) , Organic Salt, Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Sugar, Turmeric, Herbs & Spices.

As you can see, most of the ingredients are organic. The vast majority of the meal is completely organic and only a few small things are not certified organic.

Was it any good? Pitango Organic Pumpkin, Leek and Spinach Risotto Taste:

This is an honest review because I'm going to tell you it wasn't that great. It was an okay tasting meal, but nothing to get too excited about. I would consider it a good option if you are pressed for time and in the mood for something healthy and organic that you can just microwave, but don't expect a culinary masterpiece because you won't be getting one. But if you are looking for a decent warm meal to fill you up without taking hours to prepare then you will be more than satisfied.

Is it worth it? Pitango Organic Pumpkin, Leek and Spinach Risotto Review:

This meal from Pitango is a meal made for convenience. It only takes a few minutes to microwave and then you are ready to eat the risotto which is well cooked by then. It tastes decent and in a bind it's a nice option for a meal when you don't want to cook. However, if you have the time it would be very easy to create something that tasted better and had more flavor. Perhaps you could even add more flavor to the risotto by using more spices and cheese, which I did not do.

The package contains two servings and they were eaten on consecutive days. It's easy to store the risotto even after you have opened it and you can make two meals out of one package which makes it a pretty good deal for your money. If you are trying to find something that's healthy, organic, fast and easy then it's definitely a contender.

Have to disagree with the reviewer's comments on taste. I found the Pitango Risotto range to be great tasting.. far better than some of the frozen meals and TV dinner meals out there. I Love that they care about the environment and certified Carbon neutral
