Pitbull's The Boatlift Offers Something for Everyone

The Reviewer
Rapper Pitbull is the self proclaimed Mr. 305, or Mr. Miami. He is known for his explosively fast rhymes that mix Spanish and English. However, Pitbull has never really been able to crossover into the mainstream. On his new album The Boatlift, Pitbull maintains the same formula in a quest for more mainstream acceptance. Will The Boatlift be Pitbull's break into the mainstream?

The first single off The Boatlift is Sticky Icky produced by Lil Jon and featuring Jim Jones. The song is fairly solid and features a very crunk beat produced by Lil Jon. The subject matter leaves something to be desired but the song is decent. Jim Jones delivers a fairly solid verse to add to the song.

On Tell Me Remix Pitbull is joined by Frankie J and Ken-Y. The song is definitely one of the better tracks on the album. The song has been garnering airplay on a lot of Hispanic areas around the country. The song is a solid mid-tempo rap and R&B collaboration. Frankie J and Ken-Y deliver a solid chorus and vocal ad-libs throughout the track.

Un Poquito features a guest appearance from Yung Berg. The song is very catchy and is a song you would expect Pitbull to make. Yung Berg delivers a solid verse and chorus with Pitbull. The song overall is very good.

On The Play N Skillz produced Secret Admirer; Pitbull is joined by R&B singer Lloyd. The song has the most radio potential of any track on the album. The song is very good and features all the aspects of a hit record.

Go Girl features Pitbull teamed with Trina and Young Bo$$. The song is okay but not one of the better tracks on the album.

The Anthem features Pitbull joined by Lil Jon. The song is a Spanish-infused up-tempo track. The song is fairly solid and will definitely get a lot of play in Hispanic clubs.

Fuego DJ Buddha Remix is produced by Mr. Collipark. The song is a very good track and features a very recognizable house music sample. The track features Reaggaeton star Don Omar.

On Candyman, Pitbull is joined by one of the few rappers that can rap faster than himself in Twista. The song is fairly catchy and features some frenetic raps by both artists.

The Boatlift overall is a very solid album. The album has a little bit of something for everyone. Overall The Boatlift gets 7.5 out of 10. If you are a fan of Pitbull make sure you pick up his new album The Boatlift when it is available in stores on November 27th.
