The Food Bank needs to raise more funds than ever before as the amount of families needing this help is growing tremendously. The Food Bank reports that they are adding about 16,000 new families per month that they provide help to. With the economic crisis, job loss and unemployment compensation ending in June of 2010, more and more families who thought they would never need this kind of help, now find themselves welcoming the great work of all the volunteers and workers at the Food Bank.
What better way to help this great cause out than to spend the weekend of July 23-25, 2010 listening to a fantastic line up of blues makers from all over the nation, as they come to play in Pittsburgh Blues Festival.
This year brings classic headliners like Eric Burdon & the Animals and Kenny Wayne Shepard. Other national acts include: the Larry McCray Band and Tinsley Ellis. There will also be many local Pittsburgh area blues artists like: Norm Nardini & the Pittsburgh All-Stars and Ron Yarosz and the Vehicle, winner of the 2010 IBC award by the Blues Society of Western PA.
The Friday night opening will be a New Orleans theme featuring The Iguanas and Chubby Carrier & The Bayou Swamp Band.
Friday night is FREE to enter just by bringing a bag of non-perishable food items. Saturday and Sunday tickets are $25. This is a family friendly event, Parking is free, and Advanced TICKET purchase, discounts and all other information can be found at The Pittsburgh Blues Festival website.
