Pittsburgh North Hills Community Outreach Does Amazing Work for the Elderly and Others
Giving Help During the Holidays Gives Great Rewards in Return
Pittsburgh, PA 15101
United States of America
The North Hills Community Outreach (NHCO) is one such worthy community organization that is doing tremendous work for those in need and the elderly. They have been working since 1986 and have grown to provide services that include two food pantries, utility assistance, emergency financial help, Family Savings Accounts, college scholarships for nontraditional adults, support groups, individualized computer and employment training, Faith in Action volunteer care giving, transportation, youth leadership, a partnership with Community Auto, and much more!
Through their website one can ask for help, volunteer and donate. They also have a great idea where you can donate a car to a family needing one. All of the information about car donation can be found here: http://www.nhco.org/auto.cfm
It does seem that you can't turn around without running into some cause looking for more donations and this may be a year when it is harder than ever to find the extra money to donate at all, but if you take any time at all to search and choose at least a few worthy causes to donate either money or time, even if you think it is not much at all, you will undoubtedly help or perhaps even save someone else who is having a much more difficult time making it through each day. In the end, helping someone else, in any way, will give you back more than you may imagine, in the knowing that you did something good! No amount of help is ever too small!
Here are a few priority items that are needed on the NHCO Wish List:
Priority Items
- Food pantry items: Toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, toilet paper, juice, EASY pumpkin pie mix, pie crust
- Sporting/physical activity equipment for Sports Share
- Rubber door stops
- White 8 1/2 x 11 scrap paper (clean on one side)
- Copy paper in assorted colors
- Paper bags for our food pantries
- Grocery store gift cards in any amount
Check out their website for all details of how you can help or ask for help at http://www.nhco.org/index.htm and don't forget to print off some of their information and pass on to anyone you want to tell about these services who may not have access to the internet, or even contact the NHCO for someone else.
