No matter where you live around Pittsburgh, PA, Fourth of July festivities are happening near you!
The biggest celebration will be the EQT "Flashes of Freedom" Fireworks Fantasia, the finale of the EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta, running from July 1st -- July 4th, at Point State Park downtown. According to www.threeriversregatta.net, free music and entertainment, a 21-Gun Salute, and tributes to those in uniform begin at 1:00 PM. At 6:45 PM, the Army Jazz Ambassadors "Visions of Glory" Concert will begin at the Point State Park Main Stage. Fireworks will be shot from barges on the the three rivers at 9:35 PM, and can be viewed from vantage points all over the beautiful city. But the closer to the "Point" you are, the better the view!
While you're downtown, check out the free Heinz Field Fourth of July Celebration, presented by Coors Light. The official website of the Steelers, www.steelers.com, explains that performances by the 28th Infantry Division Band and local bands Tres Lads and The Stickers will be happening all evening, and then Grammy-nominated country music star Joe Nichols will take the stage at 8:15 PM. Stay and watch the Regatta fireworks from the field!If you won't be able to attend the events in the city, try the local fireworks displays happening all over the Pittsburgh area.
Perhaps the biggest event around Pittsburgh is the Big Butler Fair in Butler County, PA. The Fair runs from July 1st -- July 9th. On July 4th, enjoy the fair events and stay for the fireworks, presented by Shively Fireworks, starting at dusk. Admission is $6 to $8, depending on time of arrival. For smaller neighborhood celebrations, local news website www.wpxi.com lists several. On July 2nd, Lawrenceville fireworks begin at 9:30 PM at Arsenal Park, and Robinson Area Fireworks begin at dusk at the Burkett Sports and Recreation Complex.
Ross Township residents can enjoy the Ross Township Parade on July 3rd at 4:00 PM on Perry Highway and fireworks will begin at 9:30 PM at Ross Community Center, and those in South Fayette can view a display at 9:45 PM at the El Rancho Soccer Field.
Much more is happening on the 4th.
The Avalon area fireworks begin at dusk on Fredrick Street.
Bethel Park's display begins at 9:40 PM at South Hills Village Mall.
Don't miss Brentwood's fireworks at dusk at Brentwood Park. For the athletes among you, why not participate in the Brentwood "Firecracker 5-K" beginning at 9:00 AM?
Canonsburg area residents attend the 49th annual celebration in downtown Canonsburg. A parade begins at 10:00 AM, town park events begin at noon, and fireworks start at the stadium at 8:00 PM.
The Crafton Festival runs from June 30th -- July 4th, with fireworks beginning at 9:30 PM in Crafton Park on the 4th.
Those near Dormont Park can view fireworks there at dusk.
Elliott area offers activities on July 3rd and 4th, with fireworks at dusk on the 4th at the West End Overlook.
The City of Monongahela's celebration begins at 6:00 PM, with fireworks at 9:45 PM, at the Monongahela Aquatorium. Call 724-258-5919 for info.
Monroeville starts its community party with a parade at 9:00 AM, and concludes with fireworks at dusk at the Monroeville mall.
Ross Township residents can attend the Moon Township Celebration at 4:00 PM, with fireworks beginning at dusk at Moon Park.
Mt. Lebanon Carnival runs from noon to 5:00 PM, a concert begins at 7:30 PM, and fireworks begin at 9:30 PM at Mt. Lebanon Main Park.
Those in Shaler can enjoy Shaler Community Day at Kiwanis Park. Events will be held all day, with fireworks at 9:30 PM (on July 5th if it rains).
And last, but not least, the Upper St. Clair fireworks celebration will be held at 9:00 PM at the Port Authority.
