Pizza for Breakfast

Pizza is just not for lunch or dinner anymore. My spouse and I have experimented with several different pizza creations. We do not use store bought dough, we have a recipe which is easy to make and tastes like restaurant bought pizza.

Dough (14 to 16 inch pizza)
1Cup warm water (110 degree)
1 package instant yeast
1 1/2 t olive oil
1/2 t salt
2-2 1/4 Cups high gluten flour( found at bulk food stores)

This works great with kitchen-aid mixer but if you do not have one you can Knead it by hand for 15 minutes.
1. Dissolve yeast in warm water, let stand for 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
2. Add oil, salt, and all 2 cups of flour at once (let mix for 15 minutes on low speed)
3. Remove dough and place into a well greased bowl cover with plastic wrap and let rise until double in bulk.

Toppings

Home style hash brown
1/2-3/4 C Sausage ( hot , mild whatever you prefer) cooked fully and drained
Scrambled Eggs ( cooked 2 Eggs)
Biscuit Gravy mix ( prepare to directions on package, found in gravy isle in most grocery stores make 1 cup, end up using almost all )
1/2- 1 C Shredded Cheese (your choice we used mild shredded cheddar on ours )
Salt and Pepper to taste

Making the Pizza
Preheat oven at 500 Degrees

( The amount of Gravy, Cheese, Sausage, is up to your taste, put as much or little as you want )

1. Turn dough out onto floured work surface, push dough gently out into a circle. (place dough onto a pizza stone or cookie sheet if you do not have a stone)
2. Place pizza in oven for 4 to 5 minutes to bake partially. remove when done.
3. Place toppings on pizza starting with a thin layer of gravy, eggs, hash browns, sausage, shredded cheese, and dab extra gravy onto top.
4. Return to oven and cook an additional 4 to 5 minutes.
5. When done take out of oven and let cool for a couple minutes so you don't burn your mouth. ENJOY!

its not a whole lot of work just the dough part....but I have kitchen aid mixer which takes the work out of it. It tastes better homemade dough to the refridgerated kind which you can use in place of homemade dough.

I've had pizza for breakfast, but it was because the box was still on the table from the night before. This sounds like more work than my usual meals (frozen hamsicles anyone?) It would be a great idea for a morning brunch party. Everyone tops their own.

This sounds delicious. Reminds me of sausage bread that I have had. I will try it,.
