Places in Las Vegas Where Movies Were Made

Usually, when someone says, "Las Vegas", the first thing that comes to mind is casinos, shows and girls. But, Las Vegas is actually also a popular spot for film makers to make movies. Over 1,000 scenes from movies and television shows have been filmed in Las Vegas!

A great place to start is on Las Vegas Blvd South where you'll find a few places film were made. Start at 'Chapel of the Bells' ( 2233 Las Vegas Blvd. South) where a scene from "Vegas Vacation" was shot. This movie was directed by Stephen Kessler. The cast includes Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo, Randy Quaid, Ethan Embry and Marisol Nichols. "Vegas Vacation" also filmed scenes at the MGM Grand Hotel and the Klondike Inn.

One of the most recent movies filmed in Las Vegas was "The Hangover", directed by Todd Phillips about a group of friends to venture to Las Vegas for a bachelor party and stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha and Heather Graham. Visit the "Best Little Wedding Chapel" scenes were filmed at 1236 Las Vegas Blvd South which used to be a BBQ.

Venture next to 619 Las Vegas Blvd South to Graceland Chapel. Scenes from "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" (1998) starring Johnny Depp were shot here. This is also the chapel that was featured in "Fools Rush In" with Selma Heyeck and Matthew Perry (1997).

"Diamond are Forever" released in 1971, was also shot at Vegas. This film was part of the James Bond Series with a star cast of Sean Connery as James Bond. This movie featured scenes in the desert near Las Vegas. The main location for shooting this movie was Angeles International Airport and eight different Las Vegas Hotels including the Las Vegas Hilton.

George Clooney causes trouble as Danny Ocean in "Ocean's 11" and "Ocean's 13". Visit the Bellagio and Mirage casinos where many scenes were filmed. And if you're an Elvis fan, visit the Las Vegas Grand Prix where many scenes from "Viva Las Vegas" were shot.

If you're hungry head over to The Hard Rock Café on 4475 Paradise Road. You might recognize it from the 1992 movie "Honey, I Blew Up the Kid" or "Con Air" which starred Nicolas Cage in 1997.

For a break from the city, visit Monument Valley where movies such as "Stagecoach" and "How The West Was Won" were shot. Monument Valley Tours offers airplane tours over this area where you can enjoy the breathtaking views and recall some of your favorite western movies.
